VIEW ARTIST’S CV

Bram Hermens looks at the entire art history as his playground and knows how to interweave classical themes with contemporary events in his work. Layer upon layer, almost transparently overlapping, various movements emerge in which his eclectic fundamental attitude emerges. A constant game of creation and destruction and vice versa.

As long as he can remember he has been drawing and painting continuously and has been captivated by the mortality and fragility of life; drawing therefore has become a way of life to protect oneself against this. In the ‘openness of tastelessness’ he finds the opportunity to absorb all visual culture in his work and to make more, out of more. – Text by Max Rovers
