Anne Vincent Dijkstra (Bergen op Zoom) his  work is based on the concept of the sublime; the philosophy that connects the aesthetic with the terrifying. In his paintings he looks for beauty in the relationship of mankind to the incomprehensible reality in which we are living. He paints with oil paint in just one color, Prussian blue, the color of frozen moments. By limiting his use of color, the focus is on the organization of lines and shapes. His latest series (after ‘ ruins’, ‘x-rays’ and ‘nano’) is called the ‘pixel’ paintings: tiny squares that together form an image which is only visible from a certain distance. Visible but seldom completely understandable.
