Jacques van Erven (Eindhoven) While painting, Jacques van Erven is looking for what is special about seemingly insignificant spots in the forest. One is not invited to enter a ‘paradise’; obstacles as tree branches and water impede an easy passage. No vast landscapes with a horizon, but areas zoomed in on a part of a bigger whole. Nature going its own way despite of human interventions and control. Because of his respectful approach of nature Van Erven’s paintings are rather hopeful instead of gloomy.
