Martin Schuster (Leipzig) his paintings are shaped by his fascination for video game design, music-video aesthetics, plastic and toys for children and adults. He examines the desires of his generation, and how they are influenced by the dynamics of the global economy. His paintings can be characterized as contemporary surrealistic, showing parties, escapes from reality and journeys to unknown worlds. Schuster’s landscapes are cinematic and often depict post apocalyptic times, which doesn’t seem so far away. Simultaneity is his permanent subject: endless joy, infinite knowledge and reason, greed for profit and senseless sensation. Humanity has never experienced more peace and freedom than today whilst also having the best reasons to fear catastrophes. Ambivalence is omnipresent and Schusters biggest source of inspiration.
