Giezen’s work is about taste, good and bad and therefore also about culture as an instrument of inclusion. At the same time, she wants to transcend that discourse. Ultimately ‘taste’ is too relative to make much fuss about. Everything that happens in the world today is an source of inspiration, to philosophize about and to depict in porcelain. Hanneke is concerned with the question of wheter Flora and Fauna can cope with the breakneck speed of changes that are taking place with the regard of global warming. But also human behavior is an interesting subject with all the things we must tackle nowadays.

Using molds made from everyday unnecessary junk, Giezen makes us aware of our idiotic behaviour. The enormous footprints we make or our addiction to our phones for example. Working in porcelain which is strong, radiates power and makes colors shine, makes difficult subjects light and cheerful. She would rather that we approach her objects light-heartedly, and discover that they are comic, tragic and touching all in one. You can laugh out loud about your own shortcomings. These are ceramics to love, if you dare.
