DE SCHAAR VAN DE SCHORPIOEN with HUIS HENK VISCH
Like a scorpion has two scissors, this exhibition will be shown in two rooms: Huis Henk Visch and Galerie Nasty Alice. The double exhibition is curated by Jos van der Sommen.
De Schaar van de Schorpioen with Huis Henk Visch, group exhibition curated by Jos van der Sommen.
During Henk Visch’s solo exhibition at the Van Abbemuseum in 1989, then director Jan Debbaut described Henk Visch as a traveler. A traveler who needs variety and agility, and especially the multitude of experiences, impressions and unexpected adventures that travel brings. Henk Visch gave a lecture in which he made a link between his way of exhibiting and a painting by René Magritte, entitled La Jeunesse Illustrée. This painting shows a country road on which several objects are located at an equal distance from each other: a barrel, a plaster bust, a lion, a billiard table, a bicycle, a tuba, a bed and some less well-named objects. A perfect visualization of the legendary phrase for Surrealism “like a chance meeting of a sewing machine and an umbrella on the dissection table”. De Schaar van de Schorpioen is made from the same idea: a figurative thread of art that will form a special and poetic connection with each other through unexpected encounters.
