THEY COME IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES
Nearly a hundred glazed ceramic works by Han van Wetering can be seen during the exhibition. “They come in alls shapes and sizes”.
They come in all shapes and sizes, a solo exhibition by Han van Wetering.
As so often in the oeuvre of sculptor Han van Wetering, a theme suddenly emerges, which then leads to a quasi-serial investigation. Suddenly there were those towers. Gold, green, black, blue, flamed… These erotic towers are a city in themselves. The towers seem to be fighting among themselves to see who is the most beautiful, tallest or thickest. Fittingly in our society, the towers have the desire to excel. Van Wetering has never shown almost a hundred towers at the same time.
Han van Wetering has exhibited many times in The Netherlands and abroad. His scandalous images can be found in public spaces at some 30 locations in the Netherlands and Germany. Van Wetering is best known in Maastricht for the bronze Sint Servaas at the police station, the Zaate Herremenie at the Vrijthof, the bronze doors of Het Gouvernement, and the bronze doors of the Natural History Museum. His work has been included in the collections of the Bonnefantenmuseum, Museum Bommel van Dam, Princessehof, and numerous corporate and private collections.
